Did you join Renegade Pro because of the training?

Did you read Ann Sieg’s books and then look for step-by-step help in implementing what you learned from her?

Did you read Magnetic Sponsoring, but then decided you wanted to participate in the kind of training available at the Renegade Professional?

If so, you aren’t alone. That’s what brought me to the site months ago, and many others have joined for the same reason.

In the beginning, when I understood that the site was primarily about the training tutorials, I had the crazy idea of just staying long enough (maybe 3-4 months) to study as many tutorials as possible, and then quit the site. But life interfered and I also wandered about the net buying other training products, and … fortunately I didn’t quit.

Actually, I still haven’t finished the tutorials, but along the way I discovered something.

The Renegade Professional is a lot more than the training. It’s also a Community.

To be honest, the “community” was largely invisible to me for many months. I knew there were Super Guides; it took me a while to grasp that the Super Guides

  • Are not just about the wonderful one-to-one help they give to many people.
  • Are not just about the training videos that they created and added to those of founder Mike Klingler’s.
  • Are not just about the articles they wrote and the manner in which they helped to draw in more members.

What I had not realized is that when Mike encouraged these early participants to get involved and contribute, they began to interact with one another.

Though they represented many different backgrounds (and MLM companies!) they began to see opportunities to grow relationships. And so the RenPro Community gave birth.

Here’s an example of what happened from there:

Six women, brought together by a common bond collaborated on a webinar and e-book. This helped to bring new people to the Renegade. Shortly thereafter, Barbara Silva began the pilot version of Coaching Cognition, as a result of the coaching classes and coaching one another, were drawn even closer. The Community expanded and deepened.

We know that the site has evolved and will continue to do so.
But the aspect of community has taken a life of its own!

During my first eight months in The Renegade Professional, I was like the Prodigal Trainee.  I jumped about looking for the “real thing.”  I didn’t have a lot of knowledge or experience so I was easily distracted by the great squeeze pages and allure of other internet marketing gurus. (Mike warns against this in several videos, but I let it roll off me without grasping it.  Because of this, I was not one of the early Super Guides.)

I was busy reading and researching and comparing the gurus. Who was more experienced and successful?  Who was less expensive? Who offered more bonuses? Who had a personality more pleasing to me?

During those first eight months I bought memberships and materials from at least five other internet marketing leaders. I have met people who have bought from far more people than that!

Here are two key things that I didn’t fully grasp at the beginning:

  1. The Renegade Professional provides training on everything that can be learned from the sites of the other gurus. What I know now is that:
  • I wasted time and money wandering about. Unfortunately, this is an all too common regret of beginners.
  • If you stick with RenPro systematically, the other sites are superfluous. RenPro training is thoroughly customizable and thoroughly applicable to every skill level, certainly to the edge of the “somewhat Seasoned Smart Professional level.
  • It’s easy to be lured by the thought:

    “But the other gurus provide so much good information!”
    That’s true, but what they teach, that is applicable to smart beginners and to early smart professionals is available in the RenPro training tutorials.

    Only The Renegade Professional Provides and Promotes Community.

The RenPro site is totally unique.

Think about it.

Other “gurus” provide internet marketing training sites, yet with no way for members to even know who the other students are. Does that sound like community?

I won’t name these sites, well-respected though they are, but face it, there is no opportunity to contribute or engage at any level; the value is solely about the training provided by the “guru.”

These are knowledgeable marketing individuals who do not want to give away their pedestal. Their name, face, and words predominate every corner of the site. There is no opportunity to contribute; they don’t want “competition” on their own site.

So how does the Renegade Professional site promote community?

David Garfinkel RenegadeBringing recruiting and product sales online is an important next step for many network marketers. Others who are already here share a common concern with those just arrived:

“What am I doing wrong? Why aren’t my ______ (ads, videos, lead capture pages, sales pages) working?”

Of course there’s no “one size fits all” answer to that question. But I can tell you the Number 1 problem in online copy for network marketers:

They start where THEY want to start… instead of starting where the CUSTOMER IS.

If you have this problem, and you fix it, your lead generation and sales conversions will skyrocket!

In this blog post, I will tell you how to solve it. This is one of my favorite subjects. In fact, in The Ultimate Copywriting Course, I share 6 simple secrets to put the power of copywriting in the palm of your hand… and the first one is: Start Where Your Customer Is!

Now what does this mean?

Well, it’s the marketing equivalent of walking a mile in the other person’s moccasins. It means: Instead of looking at your opportunity or your product, or service, from YOUR point of view, look at it the way your prospect would look at it…

… if they had never heard of it before!

This means getting into your prospect’s thinking by understand what their life is like, what frustrates them, what their secret desires are, what their fears are, and how they think about things… which would be different, maybe, than you do. It might even be different than they would after they know about what you have to offer and become a part of it, or start using it!

How do you figure out “where your prospect is?”

It’s actually very simple. You simply have to pay attention to a few things most people don’t usually pay attention to.

The next time you are making a presentation, in person or over the phone, listen carefully to the questions people ask and the comments they make.

If someone says, “I’m homeschooling my kids and I want something I can do from home and I can use to teach my children about being an entrepreneur,” for example, think back. Have you ever heard that before?

Especially, early on in a relationship?

Some opportunities and some products fit that need well. Others don’t.

If yours does… and you’ve heard that same statement (or a question asking if the person can stay at home and how appropriate would it be to involve their children in the business), that should give you a pretty good idea of what’s on the minds of a lot of your prospects.

See? That wasn’t so hard.

But it did require you to think about casual sales conversations in a new way. Like your own personal market research.

The great thing about this is you can take this information and make it part of your marketing message easily and without a lot of cost.

Let’s say you have a video on your website. And let’s also say you sell a great nutritional supplement, an antioxidant that science has proven will strengthen the immune system.

In the past, you might have started your video, (if you were me),

“Hi, I’m David Garfinkel. If you would like greater health for yourself and your family, with a stronger immune system and an overall better feeling of well being, I have some important news for you… ”

However, now you know that, while people may ULTIMATELY buy your product because of the health benefits of antioxidants, talking about that FIRST would violate the rule: “Start where your prospect is.”

So, you could start this way instead:

“Hi, I’m David Garfinkel. If you’re like a lot of my friends, your family is important to you and you may be interested in opportunities that allow you to stay at home and even run a home-based business where you can involve your kids.

“In fact, some of my best distributors homeschool their kids and use what I’m about to tell you about as a very important part of their ‘real-world’ education!

“Now hang on because I’ll tell you more about how that works, but first let me say that I’m sure your family’s health is important to you…. ”

… and then, continue with the health benefits of anti-oxidants.

Just by starting your marketing messages “where the prospect is” can make a world of difference in the conversion and lead generation results in your business.

And you don’t have to limit this to videos, of course. You can use the same idea with:

- articles in social media

- pay-per-click advertising

- blog posts

- lead capture pages

- sales pages

and every other form of marketing you use.

I have helped people completely transform their businesses, in very short periods of time, simply by changing the point of view from what’s on THEIR minds, to what’s on their PROSPECTS’ minds.

This piece by John Venezia would save people a whole lot of money, time, emotion and energy spent on a company that hasn’t stood the test.  This totally omits brand new companies pushing, in their sales pitch, “Ground Floor Opportunity.”  What do they say when the company is 3 or more years old?  It is actually better to join a company a couple years after it has been established.

Top 10 Ways to Choose a Great Network Marketing Opportunity
There are a few network marketing opportunities that are just scams. There are far more that may be well-intentioned, but have a poor track record, for any number of reasons. So how do you separate the wheat from the chaff? Here are ten tips to help you pick the right network marketing opportunity for you.

1. Has the company been around for at least 5 years?
If you want the efforts you put in today to pay off for many years in the future, choose a company that has proven that it will be around for the long term. 90% of all network marketing companies FAIL within their first 2 years. You don’t want to invest your precious time and resources (not to mention your future) in something that may not be in business next month, do you?
2. Is the company well capitalized?
In other words, does it have the cash that it will need to grow, to maintain a solid infrastructure, to attract talented management, to keep pace with technology — and, of course, to pay your commissions! (I prefer publicly traded companies because they’re required to disclose their financial condition in DETAIL every 90 days to the SEC and other governmental agencies. You may not be able to obtain this information on a private company, so you’ll be taking a risk on its financial condition.)
3. Does the company offer products or services that are unique?
That is, they’re not readily available elsewhere (especially at a discount) and they’re not just another “me too” product that has loads of competition.
4. Is there a genuine need for the product or service?
You’ve probably heard horror stories about people ending up with a garage full of expensive water filters – the reason that happens is because only other distributors will purchase the product at that price! Your product or service must fill a REAL need at a fair price – and there should be a large untapped market for it. In other words, it MUST provide tremendous value, so the customer is the biggest winner.
5. Is the product or service trendy or a fad?
You can’t build long term residual income (i.e., your retirement!) if the product or service only has short term appeal (e.g., beany babies, etc.). Think long term instead. Is the product or service something that your customers will continue to use for a long time?
6. Can you generate immediate income?
So that you can finance your marketing and expansion efforts from cash flow.
7. Does the marketing system take full advantage of technology?
Not everyone is a sales type, but ANYBODY can plug into a system and tools that do the selling and sorting for you!

9. Is there a way to build your business part-time without losing your full time income?
The company must have automated systems that can do the heavy lifting (i.e., selling and sorting) for you so that you can use your limited time efficiently.
10. Will you have FUN?
Although this may not be an element of your current JOB, we think it’s important! You should have a lot of fun with your business partners while you work together to build a long term business and your financial army.
So there you have it — ten criteria for selecting a superior network marketing opportunity. Of course, even with a great company, there’s no such thing as a free lunch. You WILL have to work! But, with the right opportunity (unlike your job), it won’t have to be forever!
